Quick Facts - Did You Know?

  • In January 2010, there were 10,739,800 people of working age (15 years and over) in Ontario.
  • There were 7,221,000 people in Ontario’s labour force according to Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey for January 2010. Thus, 67.2% of Ontario’s working age population was either employed or actively seeking employment. This percentage is also known as the labour force participation rate.

  • As of January 2010, there were 6,557,700 people working in Ontario, 81.1% of them full time.

  •  Another 663,200 people were unemployed. This represented an unemployment rate of 9.2% for Ontario in January 2010.
